Summer fun in Somerset

Glastonbury, the greatest festival in the world, kicks off in Somerset next month.

With over 100 different stages, showcasing more than 3000 performers and artists, anyone who has been before will tell you it is an utterly unique experience. With over 200,000 revellers expected this year it’s also one of the biggest festivals in the world.

For those of you who may have missed out on tickets and are going to have witness it vicariously through everyone else’s social media posts, we thought we’d give you a quick run-down on some of the other brilliant summertime events and festivals happening around the county this summer.

Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza 

The Extravaganza is organised by Glastonbury Festival as a thank you to locals, and will take place on Saturday 9th August. Live bands performing in the Abbey’s historic surroundings including The Script and the Freya Ridings. 

The concert will wrap up with a traditional fireworks display.

Frome Festival

Running from 4th to 13th July, this special series includes a huge programme of performances, workshops, exhibitions, and open studios across Frome, making it a real highlight of the summer season.

Taunton Flower Show

The oldest flower show in the country takes place in Taunton on 1st and 2nd August. 

Expect stunning floral displays, gardening competitions, music, local and national traders and fun for all the family.

Priddy Folk Festival 

Beautifully set high up in the Mendip Hills, the Priddy Folk Festival boasts an impressive lineup of folk and world music including Suntou Susso, Breabach and Gnoss.

Taking place in mid-July, expect a full weekend of amazing live music as well as dance, children’s events and lots more.
