Burnham-on-Sea is a popular seaside resort town, with stunning views and a famous low lighthouse.
A well-known tourist destination, Burnham-on-Sea has plenty to see and do for families of all ages, including leisure parks, arcades, swimming, golf, sailing, and its beautiful sandy beach.
The town’s position, where the Somerset Levels meet the Bristol Channel, mean it has a long history of sea defences and lighthouses, dating back to the Roman era. The low lighthouse is the most famous of Burnham-on-Sea’s three, and stands on stilts on the shore itself.
Built in 1832, the red vertical stripe was added to the seaward side to make it more prominent in daylight.
